Craig Ament's other ride. I built this bike using a 1981 right side chain drive YZ125. It's a non powervalve motor. I wanted to build this bike for me to race at Marshalltown when I still lived in WI.

I started building it in 1994 when this engine was given to me. I no more got the engine mounted in the frame than I sold it so I never got to ride it until recently. The pipe was designed with a definitive "hit" in the power delivery so it would be an exciting and lively ride. It worked, in spades! When this thing comes onto the pipe in any of the first three gears, it's wheelie city. It's really an exciting ride. The sound that the pipe makes is nearly as deep in tone as Paul's 250, very bassy in sound tonal quality. I love listening to it.

I wish I could have had more time with this bike to dial in it's chassis and suspension and all the running gear. I tried to make time this winter but, something always got in the way. I should take a weekend and go see Craig and dial it in for him.

The bike is unusual due to the right side chain drive and it has excellent power, I just need to change the radiator location (under the seat currently), and make a rear brake for it. Plus build some fairing mounts and stays.

This bike easily matches anything on the track for outright speed but takes a deft hand and a lot of concentration and rider input to control. Acceleration when it's on the pipe is easily as good as any bike out there, weighing only 156 lb and having somewhere around 22-25 RWHP makes this bike quite fast.
