Mike Moret's other bike. This is a YSR/DT175 combination. The engine is out of a 1978 DT175, it's an air cooled smaller bore diameter, non-counterbalanced, earlier version of the Blaster.
This bike was finished the day we started on the Blaster/YSR. It differs only in engine from the Blaster, using the same chassis and suspension components and weighs about 8 lb less because of the pipe and engine weight differences. It's actually a little faster in top speed than the Blaster but can't match the acceleration.
The two contributing factors for the lack of acceleration is that it has a 5 speed tranny, instead of a 6 for the Blaster, and the displacement disadvantage. The powerband is good and wide but it just doesn't have a tranny that allows you keep the rpm in the sweet spot. I think if we were to put a 6 speed in it, it could possibly be a match for the Blaster in acceleration. But, it still wouldn't have the back-up torque that the Blaster has which means you'd be more active with the shifter than you would be with the Blaster.
